Collaboration Pioneers New Blood Glucose Prediction Processes

A continuing collaboration between OU-HCOM researchers and those at the Fritz J. and Dolores H. Russ College of Engineering and Technology secured a $350,000 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for their work on predicting blood glucose levels for Type I diabetes patients.

Frank Schwartz, M.D., professor of endocrinology, and Jay Shubrook, D.O. ('96), associate professor of family medicine, join lead researcher Cindy Marling, Ph.D., associate professor of computer science and Razvan Bunescu, assistant professor of computer science, on the project "Machine Learning Models for Blood Glucose Prediction in Diabetes Management," which aims to use artificial intelligence to predict blood glucose levels.
